COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Arnold Sports Festival will hold multi-sport festivals on
six continents in 2017, including the Arnold Classic South America in São Paulo,
Brasil for the first time.
The Arnold Sports Festival USA will be held in Columbus, Ohio in March, followed
by events in Melbourne, Australia; São Paulo, Brasil; Johannesburg, South
Africa; Hong Kong and Barcelona, Spain.
All events will feature professional bodybuilding and related IFBB Pro League
contests, amateur bodybuilding, strength and combat sports, a large health and
fitness expo and youth events that vary from continent to continent.
“The Arnold Classic Worldwide brand is now the largest series of multi-sport
festivals in the world and we look forward to making each of our Arnold Classic
weekends better than our previous best,” said James J. Lorimer, CEO of Classic
Productions, Inc., who co-founded the Arnold Classic in Columbus with Gov.
Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1989. “I look forward to continuing my worldwide
fitness crusade in 2017 as we again travel to all six continents to promote the
Arnold Classic multi-sports festival – the largest multi-sports festival in the
world,” Schwarzenegger said.
2017 Arnold Classic Worldwide schedule:
- Arnold Sports USA, Columbus, Ohio, March 2-5
- Arnold Classic Australia, Melbourne, March 17-19
- Arnold Classic South America, São Paulo, Brazil, April 21-23
- Arnold Classic Africa, Johannesburg, South Africa, May 5-7
- Arnold Classic Asia, Hong Kong, August 18-20
- Arnold Classic Europe, Barcelona, Spain, September 22-24
The 2017 Arnold Sports Festival USA will feature more than 18,000 athletes from
80 nations competing in more than 70 sports and events, including IFBB Pro
League events in men’s open bodybuilding, men’s 212, men’s physique, fitness,
figure, bikini, women’s physique and pro wheelchair. The Arnold Amateur IFBB/NPC
Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure, Bikini & Physique Championships will return for
an 11th year, with more than 700 athletes from 80 nations.
The Arnold Classic South America will be held São Paulo, Brasil for the first
time after being staged annually in Rio de Janeiro since 2013. The move will
allow the event to expand even larger by moving into the Transamerica Expo
Center in São Paulo.
Arnold Classic Europe will be held in Barcelona again in 2017 after being held
in Madrid from 2011-2015. Arnold Classic Africa and Arnold Classic Asia will
each be staged for the second time in 2017 after successful debut events in
2016.
